INITIATION
by Takara
What is Initiation?
It is you, living your daily life, stepping
into greater and greater levels of Truth. It is the process
of remembering that you are a spark of Divinity having a human
experience and remembering how to rise above circumstances and
be at peace. It is a magical moment when you let go of your
pain, your suffering, or one of your limiting beliefs, and step
forward as a more empowered individual closer to being your
highest potential.
This earthly experience is glorious. It is full
of every wild thing one can imagine from the miracle and awe
of birth to the pain, sadness, and despair of the diverse forms
of mayhem we have believed and caused to be real. I'm talking
about war, poverty, physical pain, gruesome death, emotional
and physical abuse . . . the list goes on.
You'll notice that I said birth is a miraculous
and awe inspiring thing. It does not have to include
pain. It does not have to take hours. It does not have
to be what it has become.
I experienced a low level of pain during the
6 hours it took to birth my son. As I've worked on my book about
pregnancy as a spiritual experience, I've talked with countless
women who have actually been in an ecstatic state, feeling no
pain whatsoever, and giving birth in under an hour. I am convinced
that we could have had a similar experience if he had not been
backwards.
This is what some would consider a complication.
For us, Raven and I, it was a challenge. It was our Initiation.
Backwards children can't find the canal as easily as those facing
the other way. And with each contraction comes pain in the low
back. I knew it all along. (No I was never hooked up to monitors
in a doctor's office telling me this. I simply knew. I knew
he was a boy and I knew he was backwards.) I started telling
him at 5 months that he needed to turn around. And I'm sure
he tried, bless his precious heart.
Finally that magical moment came.
The moment that must come in order for you to
fully step into your Power. The moment when you are terrified,
when you have no where to turn, when you have exhausted your
options and know that you don't have the answer to get out of
the situation, and you must fully turn it over to the greater
part of you - to the Divine. It is in that moment that you find
true and lasting peace. It is in that moment that you step into
your Truth and into your true power. It is your moment of Initiation.
It is the moment when you must reach deep within yourself and
do whatever must be done to come through to the other side.
You must face your worst fears, you must take a step even though
you don't know how, and you simply have to find enough faith
and hope within yourself to continue forward. It is hard. It
is very hard. And once you've reached the other side, you will
experience such a profound feeling of liberation that you will
have no words with which to express it.
Five hours into labor, Jes couldn't find the
canal. I'd read about other women who had gone through this
and they would reach up assist the head from the inside. We
tried that with no success. Raven and I just stared into each
others eyes without saying anything, each having a million unresolved
questions, knowing we were in that crucial moment where something
had to be done. I was too far dilated to even consider getting
into a vehicle and rushing to a hospital. It was just the two
of us. Insane as that may sound, it is what we both had concluded
as the way our son wanted to be birthed after much prayer and
inner reflection. So it was just us. At least we thought so
any way.
We were both very concerned. What to do? As
he stared into my eyes, he asked me, "What do you want
to do?" And I simply said, "I don't know." I
don't know - the three most empowering words I'd ever uttered.
The truth is I, the little I, had no idea what to do. And as
I said those words, the entire situation was turned over to
something much greater than myself, Raven's self, and our small
personalities. The entire Universe swooped in and took over.
I had surrendered. I had acknowledged to myself, to him, to
God, that I didn't know. It is unbelievable how freeing that
is.
You are not alone. You never have been. You
don't have to know the answers. You just have to know you are
truly connected with your Divine Self - and not some astral
entity or other negative expression of your own ego. And you
have to know that you - yourself and your little personality
- don't know. And thenmagically you do know what to do. You
know what to say. And you are at peace. You finally come to
the profound realization that you truly don't know the outcome.
Yet you know it will be O.K. regardless of the outcome. You
let go of any expectations you might have had about the way
things would go or what the result will be. And you are simply
and totally in the now moment. Every moment is new and fresh
and completely free of expectation. Time stands still. There
was no past and there is no future. There is only now.
And in the now I began to breath out (tone)
sounds that I have no idea where they came from. They were deep
and strong and gutteral. Truly odd, almost scary sounds. They
were not sounds of pain. They were primal. They were full of
power. And I then had that 45 minute birth everyone else told
me about. The one without pain. The one where you are definitely
in a trance state, not of this world, and completely engulfed
by the loving arms of the Divine mother.
And when Jes emerged into the water supported
by the loving hands of his father, the cord was wrapped around
his neck and his arm. He couldn't turn around when I encouraged
him to. He was locked in position and had to stay that way until
the curtain call. What a precious little dear one. I finally
understood.
I had been through a powerful Initiation and
had come out a better person on the other side. My son was perfectly
formed, small - just liked I'd asked for - and beautiful. I
was exhausted. Not because it had been so physically hard, but
because the experience had been so emotionally intense.
Every moment of every day is an Initiation.
Sometimes you can get so caught up in the day to day that you
forget that you are even on a journey back to Self.
Other times, which many seem to be facing right
now, it is in your face. No escape. Child birth is the perfect
Initiation because once labor starts, you can't bail out and
say, "You know I really don't think I want to do this."
Well you can say it, but it doesn't change anything. You have
to walk through that fire. You have to face it. You can't put
it off. You can't ignore it and hope it will go away. It is
in your face right here, right now, and is demanding your full
attention.
As I speak with dear ones both near and far,
they share with me that they are having to walk through fire
right now. Some are facing the death of a loved one. Others
are facing possible cancer or other very scary diseases.
As I said recently to one I deeply care about,
"You can do this." This is the moment you have placed
before yourself. If you could not do this. If you did not have
the resources, the wisdom, and the help to face and move beyond
this challenge, you would not be in this position. This is one
of the most powerful moments of your life because who you are
will forever be changed by this moment in time. You can rise
to the occasion, calling in the Divine and receiving assistance
from countless energies beyond the veil, or you can wallow in
misery, depression, fear, and even potentially death. You must
find peace even in this. You must know all is well even in this.
Regardless of the outcome, regardless if your worst fears have
become manifest, you must find peace with it.
Although truly scary, these moments you can't
run away from are actually the most empowering because you have
to face them. As humans we find it so very easy to run away,
to busy ourselves with so many things so we don't have to think
about the tiger chasing us. When our body is sending us a pain
signal, indicating that something is not right, that something
is out of harmony, that something we are doing or thinking or
saying is detrimental to our achievement of happiness, peace,
and our highest potential, we push it aside with a pain killer.
Or perhaps we are feeling sad or upset, we simply distract ourselves
and don't deal with the fact that we are experiencing negative
emotion - the signal from our inner self that we are "off
track."
It is time to face whatever is happening head
on, heal our remaining fears, limiting beliefs, and blocks and
find the peace that is ours.

THE
MEANING OF PEACE by Raven
What is Peace?
I sit here in our beautiful home in Nambe, New
Mexico contemplating the definition of the word Peace. After
having many conversations with people, it appears that we all
have our own unique interpretations of what peace is. So I would
like to describe what it means to me.
As I was thinking about this the other day I
pulled out my Webster’s Dictionary to see what it said
about Peace. Peace was defined as the absence of war or hostility.
That’s it?
The absence of something sounds like a vacuum.
It must be more than that. We talk about it all the time. We
pray for it. It’s on all the TV shows and in the papers.
It must have some substance, feeling, or some kind of expression
related to it.
I believe that Peace has many layers of expression.
I believe that it is a living thing with an energy that we can
connect to. I believe it has substance and meaning. I also believe
that there are different types of Peace.
The first one is Inner Peace. This is a state
of being, a state of centeredness, tranquility and self-assurance.
It is related to our sense of confidence in ourselves and trust
that we are taken care of and protected at all times. It is
a sense of well-being and a knowing that all is right in our
world.
We also have Peace within our relationships,
our communities and our nation. I believe that Peace is related
to trust, the trust that all aspects of creation are perfect.
Even if we do not understand why something is happening in our
world, we trust that Creator is perfect thus creation must be
perfect as well. Once we have come to these realizations we
can be at Peace with the world around us.
As we begin to embrace and embody Peace, our
vibration rises. Our view of the world changes. And we begin
to affect those people whom we come in contact with in a positive
way. The sense of Peace that we feel begins to expand outward
to our families, communities and eventually encompasses the
entire earth.
In the 9 Fires of Truth, we talk about creating
Peace Wheels and activating the Global Peace Matrix. This Matrix
is an energetic envelope that encircles the planet. Imagine
a grid of crisscrossing lines similar to a wire fence that encircles
the planet and creates an energy field that permeates all aspects
of this reality. This Matrix is in place and always has been.
It is no longer pristine. It has been shrouded in darkness for
far too long. This occurred because of our choices here on Earth
to live in fear, anger, judgment and separation. As we change
our view of reality and begin to awaken to the frequencies of
Peace, Love and Joy, the shroud begins to dissolve and the light
can once again shines through. As more light shines through,
the vibration rises on the planet. As this happens, all lower
frequencies are transmuted into a higher vibration. The result
is the manifestation of a world that is based on Universal Truths
- a world of Peace, Love, Joy and Harmony.

New Translator on the Website
People from over 80 countries are reading these
words along with you. It is sometimes difficult reading for
those from non-English speaking countries. I applaud them for
doing it. I have great news for our foreign readers. I've
added a translator to the website. It isn't on all the pages
yet, but it will be soon. It was difficult finding a good one.
On most of them when you type in the word Spirit and ask it
to translate into Spanish, they come back with the word Alcohol
as the translation for the word Spirit. Although we find that
kind of funny, it is certainly not how we want the website to
read. It should be Espiritu. Anyway, I finally found a couple
of translators that do it properly. The website, and this newsletter,
can now be read in French, German, Portuguese, Spanish,
and Russian. I ask my many Dutch readers to be patient.
I'm still working on that one.
I've also added to the home page of each of
our sites a little image at the bottom of the left hand column
that contains the current moon phase. It included today's
date and a picture of the moon in its current phase.
How to access the translator and the moon
phases. If you go to the Spirit
of Nature home page you will probably get a little shield
at the top that says it is blocking something that might access
your computer. You have to right click and say "allow blocked."
(The only reason for the shield is that the translator, and
the new moon phase information, are done by 3rd parties - which
means other websites - and that makes Internet Explorer nervous.)
Then scroll down the left hand column until you see the yellow
translator box. Use the down arrow to choose the language you
desire, and press go. Voila, the whole page will be translated
into that language. The moon phase is further down in the same
column.
